Tovar Perri in the simplest of terms is... unique. He has a lot of creativity and loves to share it with the world however he can. He strives to make others smile and laugh. He is a very open person, and welcoming of others. He loves almost everyone and everything. He wants everyone to be his friend.
Tovar unfortunately did not live a very happy life, and to this day he still runs into extreme struggles. Tovar was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 5, which made him struggle with social interactions a lot growing up, which would lead to a life of severe bullying. Tovar was raised by his grandmother, Angeline, known online as GroovyGrandma4u. His mother was bipolar and was not fit to raise him, and his father was nowhere to be found, so his grandmother adopted him at the age of 10.
School was difficult for Tovar, even though he has an IQ of 143, as his attendance was EXTREMELY poor and he had to transfer to MANY different schools due to SEVERE bullying. Which did send him to an abusive and unprofessional mental hospital for 3 months time, where he was severely bullied by other patients and staff. Even a mere 4 days into freshman year of Highschool, Tovar was almost murdered by his fellow classmates and their family and friends after nonaggressively defending himself in an unprovoked fight. A single stranger getting off the train who saw Tovar being held against a car with a knife up to his throat was able to get the aggressors away from him just in time. Despite his hardships through school, Tovar was able to graduate after spending a 5th year in high school as a straight A B student with a semester of Game Design and a year of Multi Media under his belt.
Tovar LOVES movies and television, mainly animation and 80s-early 2000s films. Tovar, growing up as an only child with little to no friends, would spend most of his time watching his collection of VHS tapes he would get from resale shops. He did not have cable TV, so his only option for entertainment was Saturday Morning cartoons and PBS kids when he was young, and the VHS tapes of some shows. Tovar would also go to the movie theater almost every week for their $5 Tuesdays with his grandmother, and would see almost 3-5 movies on some days. To this day Tovar loves to watch movies with his family and friends and binge watch television shows, and owns a HUGE collection of VHS tapes and DvDs. And no matter what, his favorite film is The Iron Giant, and his favorite television series is Ed, Edd n' Eddy.
Tovar always loved making content. When Tovar was young, he would use his grandmothers camcorder to make films using his toys with a mix of playing and stop motion. When his cousins would come over, they would make skits with toys and costumes together and go back and watch what they made in the living room, laughing and becoming inspired for their next project. These early films have not yet been seen by anybody else or posted online, as they have been lost in storage. There is a chance that some of them may get uploaded in the small chance they are ever found again.
Tovar started his career in content creation on YouTube. When Tovar was 12 years old, Tovar created the name tovarisawesome on YouTube, and would make content for the channel using Windows Movie Maker and his WebCam. He would continue to make dumb music videos, YouTube Poops, skits, and even animations using Pivot Stick Figure Animator! Unfortunately, during the confusing merge of Google and YouTube, Tovar would lose his original channel by accidentally deleting it, with no way of recovering it. Tovar was understandably devastated, as he had over 1,000 subscribers and had just made his 100th video, and all of the original content was on a PC that was stolen beforehand. But, he did not quit. He made a new channel, called tovartheawesome, to start again better than before.
The username tovarisawesome was always meant to be ironic. When Tovar first made the username, he did not truly find himself awesome in the slightest, and it was meant to be ironic as he planned to make content that was mediocre or trashy. While he still somewhat feels that he still makes bad content and doesn't feel that awesome, his family, friends, and fans always say otherwise.
Tovar is a gamer. The first game he would play would be a Pac-Man/Galaga arcade machine at a local Chicago Hot-Dog stand he would visit frequently. Which evolved to the games of Chuck-E-Cheese when he had a good week of school. And then finally he would own his first gaming system, a GameBoy Advanced SP with Super Mario Brothers and Spider-Man. When Tovar would visit his cousins every week, he would watch them play Halo and Halo 2, along with other games, on their Xbox. Tovar always wanted his own Xbox, but couldn't afford one. When his cousins got an Xbox 360 for Christmas, they gave Tovar their old Xbox with Halo 2, thus kicking off Tovar's TRUE love for gaming. From there on, he would go on to save for new and different consoles and grow his game library more and more. He now owns a gaming PC, a Plastation 4 Pro, an Xbox One X, and a Nintendo Switch with a library of over 5,000 games, most of which he has admittingly not played more than once or at all.
Tovar has made MANY friends online, some have come and gone, some he still occasionally talks to, and others he calls his best friends! Between gaming, streaming, YouTubing being an online writer and artist, and posting on all types of social media, Tovar's friendships branch out across the globe! For such a lonely childhood that ultimately led Tovar to be antisocial for years, to now being extremely social with many friends, Tovar can't be happier.
All in all, Tovar is a caring, passionate, and creative person. Despite all the hardships in life, he never quits being kind and welcoming to others, and will never allow himself to become someone different. He will always continue his life living by his own quote.
"Perception is reality."
